This year’s Blue Ridge Jamboree is a dedicated showcase for young music, spoken word and visual artists under the age of 25.

SUBMISSION CATEGORIES

  • Any ensemble of more than two singers (school, church or community choir, barbershop quartet, etc.) performing a piece of music that is primarily choral, rather than instrumental. Cash award for participants: $500

  • Act composed of one or two singers performing a piece of music that is primarily choral, rather than instrumental. Cash award for participants: $250

  • Act composed on an individual performing a piece of music that is primarily instrumental. Cash award for participants: $250

  • Any ensemble of more than one individual performing a piece of music that is primarily instrumental. Cash award for participants: $500

  • Act composed of one or more individuals featuring storytelling, poetry, comedy sketch, play, rap, etc. Cash award for participants: $100

  • Visual art of any medium (painting, pottery, computer-generated, etc.) All entries will be auctioned off with proceeds split evenly between the artist and FRIENDS. Cash award for participants: $50

Information for Performers

At this time we are allotting 5-7 minutes per group or individual performer. Once the audition materials are reviewed and performers are selected we’ll finalize the time limit and communicate that to selected performers.

The Jefferson Center production crew will be assisting with the showcase. We’ll coordinate individual needs once the selection is made at the end of September.

Information for Artists

Please submit your art concept(s) by the submission deadline so we can plan accordingly. Submit final artwork by Monday, October 30th to the FRIENDS office.

FAQs

All submissions are due by midnight Sunday, September 17, 2023. Selected acts and artists will be notified by end of the day Friday, September 22, 2023. Questions about the process or trouble submitting? Email us here!

  • There is no application fee to submit music, spoken word material, or artwork.

  • You can submit as many pieces of artwork as you like. Please keep in mind that pieces will be auctioned off with 50% going to the FRIENDS scholarship fund and 50% going to the artist.

  • You can submit 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional art. If you have specific questions about a submission, contact FRIENDS at jamboree@friendsbrp.org or 540.772.2992.

  • On the Rise is open to participate 25 years and under. For group performers, the majority of the performers should be 25 years of age or younger.

  • Yes, you may submit for more than one category.

  • All types of music will be considered with a preference given to material that honors the cultural music heritage of the Blue Ridge region.

  • Accepted performers will receive a discount code to get 25% off tickets.
